Welcome to the Augustana Academy Class of 1965 web site. This site is intended as a communication and organizational tool for our class, as this year was our 45th Reunion year. It also provides a place for on-going interaction. Please check it out, create your profile, and discover the ways you can reconnect with your Academy friends. After this weekend's events, the most recent news is the possibility of a gathering: The Class of '65 turns 65!! The hope is to get as many classmembers and friends together in Minneapolis sometime during 2012, when most of us turn 65. If anyone has strong opinions about what date we should choose, please email the site administrator, Karen Mullen.
Friday night's dinner gathering was held at Minerva's, 301 So. Phillips Ave, downtown at 6:30. A great turnout included the following class members: Wes Asbenson, Nancy Asper Fust, Marie Christofferson Lykken, Marilyn Ellison Skogen, Linda Elshere Conner, Karen Erickson Mullen, Mark Gubbrud, Barry Gubrud, Ken Johnson, Janet Ekeland Kilde, Mark Larson, Jan Larson Charrlin, Sharon Loken Akland (+ Wayne), John Nims, Walter Ordway, Terry O'Toole, Leif Pedersen, Donna Prescher Bahry, Art Schultz, Jan Ulrickson Thielman and Dave Thielman, Mike Thurmer. That is a total of 22 classmates and with spouses & other guests, the group totaled 35! Everyone told about where they have been, a bit about family and shared a few of our favorite memories.
Saturday's events included a breakfast focusing on the athletics at Augustana Academy, with a tribute to Earl Boyum. Alan Sandvig attended this event. Later that day, individuals could choose to visit Old Main in Canton, attend reunion choir rehearsal with Mark Madson and of course the reunion banquet in the evening. Special recipient of an award was Mark Larson's brother, for his 'life-time' achievement. Afterwards we gathered at the Hilton Garden Inn and talked into the wee hours of the morning. Linda Runhovde Nabity joined us then, bringing the total to 24 classmates attending part or all of the reunion.
